Dr. Julie Moodoyan

Dr. Julie Moodoyan graduated from the University Of Florida College Of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Her family is originally from Live Oak, Florida, although she grew up abroad, as her parents were in the U.S. Air Force. She received her BA at Florida State University before attending veterinary school at UF. She and her husband Mike have one daughter, Olivia, and 3 sons: Ryan, Judah, and Julian. They also share their home with 7 Ball Pythons and 3 beautiful cats named Bunny, Pi and Squishy. Dr. Moodoyan has a particular interest in feline medicine, dentistry, and client education.

Dr. Sondra Brown

Dr. Sondra Brown, comes from a small town in Kansas where her family raised and showed English Setters. Dr. Brown graduated from Kansas State University College of veterinary medicine in 1993. She then returned to KSU to earn a Masters Degree in Veterinary Pathology. She worked as a veterinarian in Manhattan, KS then lived in Montreal, Canada before settling in Tallahassee. Dr. Brown is married and has three children. She shares her home with three dogs (Golden Retriever, Miniature Schnauzer and Shetland sheepdog) and three cats (1 Domestic Short hair, 1 Bengal and 1 Burmese). She is a member of the Northside Rotary Club, and 2007 President of the Bid Bend Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Brown’s primary interests in veterinary medicine include internal medicine and behavioral medicine.

Dr. Kevin Brumfield

Dr. Kevin Brumfield, a 1997 Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, is originally from Ocean Springs, MS. In addition to his dog and cat patients, Dr. Brumfield has a special interest in exotic animal medicine. He also has a strong interest in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, as well as dentistry. After finishing two externships in exotic animal medicine at Care Animal Hospital in Brandon and Long Beach Animal Hospital in Long Beach, CA, Dr. Brumfield joined Northwood Animal hospital in July, 1997. He and his wife, Lauren own three dogs (two Labrador Retrievers and one Miniature Pinscher). The Brumfields’ welcomed a daughter, Avery, in January 2006.

Dr. Sherri Kasper

Dr. Sherri Kasper, a 1998 graduate from University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, is originally from Warren, NJ. She has a strong interest in ultrasound and has pursued this through numerous ultrasound and echocardiogram conferences. Dr. Kasper completed several externships in both small and large animal medicine, include emergency medicine before arriving in Tallahassee. She has been a part of the Northwood Animal Hospital team since February 1999. Dr. Kasper is married and has a son. As for pets, she has 1 DSH cat and 3 dogs (Lab mix, Catahoula mix, and a cocker mix).

Dr. Alicia Smith

Dr. Smith graduated from NCSU in 2004 after starting her animal career in 1994 in a no-kill shelter in Boston. She started working at Northwood Animal Hospital in 2004 and moved to The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood in 2012. When not at work, she can usually be found covered in paint, glue or dry-wall compound from her many adventures in home improvement. She shares her house with 3 hypoallergenic cats, 1 shelter dog, 1 ex-racing greyhound, 1 human ten year old child and her husband of 20 years (who loved her enough to find hypoallergenic cats).

Dr. Heather Williams

Dr. Mary Carson Gwynn

Dr. Mary Carson Gwynn graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017, having completed her clinical year at Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her BS from the University of Florida in 2011. Go Gators! Originally from the Tallahassee area, Dr. Gwynn is proud to practice medicine in the area her family calls Home. Dr. Gwynn has a special interest in ophthalmology and internal medicine. She shares her home with her two dogs Lucy and Maggie, and her cat Callie.

Susan Rodgers

Susan Rodgers worked twenty years as a certified Veterinary Technician before becoming a practice manager. We were lucky enough to snatch her up in 2010 and she has been managing our practice since. She loves animals, and currently resides in Georgia by her numerous cats, dogs, horses, and rabbits.


Emily, is from Livonia, MI and has been a technician at The Animal Hospital at Southwood since 2003. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Biology and a specialty certificate in Marine Biology. She has three cats, a man, and 2 small people at home (Bono – tuxedo, Nibbler – brown tabby, Inara – orange tabby munchkin, Jerris – electrical engineer, and Kora and Iris – the kiddos). In her free time, she plays ultimate frisbee and volleyball, and enjoys reading, camping, playing games, and watching football and hockey (go Red Wings!).


Jessica was born and raised in Tallahassee. She has been working at The Animal Hospital at Southwood since 2001. She graduated from Rickards High School in 2002. Her specialty here at the clinic is dental health and dental health awareness. She has five “kids” Prof R. J. Lupin (black DSH), Moaning Myrtle (black and white DSH), Draco Malfoy (ferret), Sally Mae (white with black ears DSH), and the newest member to the Burke Family; Kreacher an adorable Miniature Pincher. While not at work, she enjoys reading (especially Harry Potter), watching movies, and spoiling her kids!


Kaitlyn was born and raised in Quincy, FL on Lake Talquin. She began working at Southwood Animal Hospital September 2011. She started out as a kennel technician and worked her way up to where she is today. She is now a vet tech and Southwoods social media coordinator. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, her dog Archer (best mutt ever), and her Fiance, Dean. Kaitlyn and Dean are expecting their first bundle of joy, Rosie Marie, in March of 2018.


Lee, a Tallahassee native who graduated Lincoln High School in 2010. Lee began working at The Animal Hospital & Pet Resort at Southwood in 2013 as a kennel technician and then worked in our pet resort for about a year. He enjoys the experience of getting to work with animals and have since become a veterinary technician. In Lee’s free time, he can normally be found exercising, spending time with his loved ones, and going on adventures with his 5-year-old Pomeranian mix, Mufasa.


Erin, has been a veterinary technician in the Tallahassee area since 2003.  She moved here from Missouri where she studied Animal Science at Missouri State University, earning her Bachelor of Science in 2001. In her spare time, Erin is an avid knitter and enjoys training and competing in multiple dog sports with her three dogs: pyrenean shepherd cross, Nox, australian shepherd, Wager, and chihuahua, Sharkbait.


Heather has always had a passion for animals from a young age and knew she wanted to work in a veterinary hospital. She graduated from Colorado State Univ. with a BS in Biomedical Sciences before attending Community College of Denver for her AAS in Veterinary Technology. Heather has been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2017 and couldn’t be happier, making animals feel better. She moved here from Colorado with her 2 dogs and 2 cats to escape the cold. When Heather is not working she enjoys trying new recipes in the kitchen and playing with her dogs.


Tameika is originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She received a Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s of Science in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi. She worked in the mental health field for several years, before deciding to go back to school to pursue her “true passion” of veterinary medicine. She is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician program at St. Petersburg College and has 3 years of experience in shelter medicine. She owns one dog and one cat. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with her daughter. Her interests in the field of veterinary medicine include anesthesia, dentistry, exotics, internal medicine, and surgery.


Shannon has been working in the vet field for 4 years. She started working at Southwood in hopes of furthering her education. When Shannon isn’t at work, she is spending time with her daughter, Leah, and dog, Freedom. She also enjoys traveling and relaxing at home.


Marissa is from Tallahassee, Florida and has been a receptionist for the Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood since August 2015. She is attending Florida State University and working towards a degree in Humanities. Marissa has three fur babies; one is a cat named Abigail, and the other two are Boston Terriers named Penelope and Levi. She is definitely a crazy Boston Terrier lady! In her free time, Marissa enjoys reading, doing yoga, spending time with family and friends, going to parks, nature trails and the beach.


Courtney joined The Client Relations team in Fall of 2017. A current student at The Florida State University she is majoring in Statistics and will graduate in Fall of 2018. In her spare time, she loves going to the dog park with her special girl Reina, a sweet 2-year-old pitbull.


Olivia is a Tallahassee Native. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Florida State University. She has three orange tabby cats, Baker, Pheonix, and Kevin, and an Australian Shepherd, Boomer. Olivia has been with the Animal Hospital and Pet Resort since 2017.


Kim, originally from New York, moved to Tallahassee in 1987. She has been with us for 10 years and works in the Pet Resort. She has one son and four dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the movies.


Lauren was born in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Tallahassee in 2009. She started working at The Pet Resort at Southwood in 2010 as a Resort Concierge. In her free time she enjoys reading, drawing, skating with the Tallahassee RollerGirls roller derby team, and traveling with her partner Crystal. She and Crystal have four dogs (Atwood, Bowski, Kerouac, and Woolf) and four cats (Damien, Donegal, Jerk-cat, and Shango).


Noah was born in Montreal Canada, but he has spent most of his life living in Tallahassee. He started working here in early 2016 as a kennel tech. He currently attends FSU and plans to go to vet school after graduating with a degree in Biological Science. He has a dog named Lily who he has had since January 2017.


Shelby was born and raised in Tallahassee. She has a son, Brayden, who is an A-honor roll student. She is very proud of him and loves him more than anything. She has 7 pets and has been working with, and rescuing animals since 2008. Shelby loves Harry Potter, music, and her favorite thing to do is sing.


Chris is from Tallahassee, Florida and began working at The Southwood Animal Hospital in August of 2017. He’s currently a kennel technician and has aspirations of becoming a veterinary technician. Chris graduated from Lawton Chiles High School in 2011 and Santa Fe College in 2016 with a AA Degree in Animal Sciences. Chris will further his education in at Florida A&M University, in the pursuit of a Bachelor degree (B.S.) in Animal Science in the Fall of 2018. Chris has a cat named Sarabi. In his spare time he enjoys watching football, hanging out with family and friends and binge watching bad horror movies.
