Dental health is an important aspect of overall physical health. Dental disease can affect several body systems, including the heart and kidneys. We encourage daily tooth brushing for our furry family members. We also recognize that it is not always possible. We stock and recommend a variety of Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) approved home dental care options.
Comprehensive oral health assessment and treatments (COHAT) are often are often recommended during a physical examination. We use modern and safe ultrasonic technology to clean each tooth thoroughly above and below the gumline. Each tooth is evaluated for the presence of bone loss and periodontal disease. If problems are detected, we have digital dental radiography available to evaluate the tooth below the gumline. Dental surgery, complete with local nerve blocks to reduce pain prior to extractions, can be performed if indicated
All of our doctors and dental technicians have received advanced training in dentistry to ensure that your pet is receiving the highest standard of care. We adhere to the most recent standards put forth by the American Animal Hospital Association in the 2019 Dental Care Guidelines for Dogs and Cats.
